“Roll with the wind”
A couple weeks ago, I shared a post about a race I ran with some friends – but it wasn’t an ordinary race. It was an Ainsley’s Angels run, and one I got to share with two great friends and first-time Angel Runners, Travis and Riley.
Beyond that, this race was even more special. It was the first 5k hosted by my local Ainsley’s Angels of America chapter. After several months of planning and teamwork, it was so exciting to see the race come to life – and bring together so many people, both at the race and virtually.
Beyond that, this race was extra-special because it was the kickoff of a national event called Power to Push.
29 days. 9 states. 1,700+ miles. 18 adaptive running chairs donated along the way. Power to Push and the people behind it, the Evans family, finished their mission with the Sunset 5k in Lake Charles, LA. A seemingly ordinary family doing something extraordinary. Pretty cool to be a small part of it.
If you haven’t yet heard of Power to Push, visit the Facebook page where you can see the recap of the Evans family’s journey. If you’re not yet familiar with Ainsley’s Angels or interested in getting involved, check out the website and find a chapter near you. If there isn’t one, you can always run virtual races.
Ainsley’s Angels is all about inclusion. No matter who you are, where you live, or your level of running ability, you’re invited to join the team.
